Protecting Colorado from Higher Energy Bills

Advanced technology can bring new investment and high-paying jobs to Colorado. But families, farmers, and small businesses should not be left paying for the energy and grid upgrades needed to support large data center development.

A Balanced Approach to Technology Growth

Colorado can benefit from responsible technology investment, including new jobs and economic opportunity. But as large data centers require more power, communities deserve safeguards that keep those costs from being passed down to families and local businesses through higher monthly energy bills.

Representative Gabe Evans is working to ensure Colorado can welcome innovation without shifting the cost of new energy infrastructure onto local residents.

The Ratepayer Protection Act

Representative Gabe Evans introduced the bipartisan Ratepayer Protection Act to help protect American families from paying for the energy and grid upgrades required by large data centers and other major power users.

The bill would encourage state utility regulators to ensure large-load customers cover the costs tied to their energy demands, including new power generation, transmission lines, and other needed infrastructure. This helps protect utilities, taxpayers, and ratepayers from being left responsible for those costs.

Listening to Colorado Communities

Representative Gabe Evans is listening to Colorado communities and working on practical solutions to the tough issues facing the state and country.

By supporting responsible investment, protecting families and small businesses from higher energy costs, and encouraging job-creating innovation, Representative Gabe Evans is taking a balanced approach that puts Colorado communities first.
