Medicare and Medicaid provide critical healthcare for seniors and vulnerable Americans. When fraud drains money from these programs, patients and taxpayers pay the price.
Representative Tom Kean is supporting efforts to expose fraud, strengthen oversight, and help ensure healthcare dollars are used the way they were intended.
A new House Energy and Commerce Committee report found Medicare and Medicaid fraud occurring nationwide and identified weaknesses in how fraud is detected and prevented. The investigation produced 13 findings and 37 recommendations aimed at strengthening program integrity and protecting taxpayer-funded healthcare.
Representative Tom Kean supports stronger safeguards to protect Medicare and Medicaid resources for seniors, vulnerable patients, and families across New Jersey.
Every dollar protected from fraud is a dollar that can remain available for the people these programs were created to serve.
The committee report also found that Medicare and Medicaid have traditionally relied on a "pay and chase" approach, where improper payments may be pursued only after money has already gone out the door. It calls for stronger efforts to detect and prevent fraud before payments are made.
Representative Tom Kean is supporting greater oversight and accountability to help protect patients, safeguard taxpayer dollars, and strengthen the healthcare programs millions of Americans depend on.
Thank you, Representative Tom Kean, for fighting to protect Medicare and Medicaid and make every healthcare dollar count.
